Energy consumption before and after
This reduction in consumption contributes directly to lowering the plant’s carbon footprint, reinforcing Aceros Inoxidables Olarra’s position as an industry committed to decarbonisation without affecting production capacity or the quality of the final product; in other words, whilst maintaining the operational conditions necessary for the proper functioning of the industrial process.
Energy-saving measures implemented
These measures have not only optimised the furnace’s overall performance but have also enabled significant progress towards the company’s energy sustainability objectives, substantially reducing specific natural gas consumption.
Type of energy management contract
Most of the measures implemented at the plant have been carried out under energy performance contracts with shared savings. However, the upgrade to the rolling mill has been structured through a specific contract linked to the advance payment of Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs). This approach has enabled the monetisation of future energy savings to be brought forward, facilitating the economic viability of the project and reducing the financial risk for the end customer.
Annual reduction in consumption and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
This level of energy saving has a significant impact on improving the plant’s environmental performance.
Compensation for the end customer
The compensation offered to the end customer has taken the form of an advance payment on the Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), subject to the successful implementation of the measure, as well as to the site supervision and comprehensive management of the EPCs by STRATENERGY.
This model guarantees the technical soundness of the project and ensures that the savings potential estimated in the measurement and verification report is achieved.
Conclusions: Overall, this case fits fully within Aceros Inoxidables Olarra’s global sustainability strategy, actively contributing to its decarbonisation and continuous improvement objectives.
