Carbon footprint and atmospheric emissions

CARBON FOOTPRINT AND ATMOSPHERIC EMISSIONS:

Carbon dioxide emission continue to increase worldwide year after year. Aceros Inoxidables Olarra is not divorced from that fact and it strives and invests to develop and use advanced resources capable of significantly improving energy efficiency and, therefore, reducing the emissions into the atmosphere. Furthermore, it is constantly working to cut the levels of gas and electricity consumed, which are direct and indirect emission sources, respectively.

Monitoring those polluting emissions into the atmosphere is also highly important to reduce environmental impacts and also to comply with current legislation. In this regard, all emissions are regularly measured in accordance with current legislation.

All the facilities have advanced filtering, neutralisation and/or physical-chemical treatment systems in order to reduce emission levels. Proof of this is that all the pollutants analysed are below the levels set by environmental legislation.

Carbon footprint:
Direct and indirect energy consumption accounts for the majority of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Aware of the role that Aceros Inoxidables Olarra can assume in the fight to reduce global GHG emissions and based on the increasingly greater attention that the stakeholders are paying to this theme, Aceros Inoxidables Olarra, S.A. has embarked on a path to monitor and manage its carbon footprint. By using our own emission calculation tool, developed based on PAS 2050:2011 Standard of the British Standards Institution (BSI).
